Jenson Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said on the 8th, "The era of robotics and physical AI has finally arrived," adding "There is no country better prepared than Korea."
CEO Huang held a brief press conference at SK's headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of that day, after finishing consultations with SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, saying that SK Group would cooperate to build an 'artificial intelligence (AI) factory,' stating "We have decided to engage in multifaceted business cooperation, including not only semiconductor memory manufacturing but also communications for building an AI factory." Regarding the sharp decline in technology stocks led by semiconductor stocks, he reiterated his optimism about 'AI demand,' saying "AI has finally begun to generate profits, and AI infrastructure construction is now in the initial stage." The following is a Q&A session.
-There are concerns about AI supply chains due to the sharp decline in semiconductor stocks, including on the US Nasdaq.
Huang: "We are at the beginning of the AI revolution. Everyone, every country will use AI. Every company will be powered by AI. After many years have passed, AI has finally begun to generate profits. Through our partnership with SK announced earlier, we are cooperating to secure stable supply, and we are jointly co-designing a roadmap to advance Nvidia's architecture.
With SK's memory technology, we can achieve the highest performance and maximum value. Last week, we announced four new AI lineups. SK's technology will be incorporated into the innovative Vera CPU. SK's technology will also be incorporated into 'RTX Spark,' which we reinvented the personal computer for the first time in 40 years together with Microsoft (MS). We are also building a new generation of processors for robots. The era of robotics, the era of physical AI, has finally arrived. There is no country better prepared than Korea. It is because of abundant AI researchers, local expertise, and Korea's heavy industry and manufacturing leadership. Korea is the most ideal country to use our new technology.
The reason we are building an AI factory is because AI has finally begun to generate profits. As companies around the world move to obtain more data, tremendous demand is being created. We are in the initial stage of building AI infrastructure, and the future is very bright."
-Do you have plans to establish a similar partnership with Samsung Electronics?
Huang: "We maintain excellent partnerships with many companies in Korea. However, today we are announcing our great partnership with SK, and we are 100% focused on SK."
