On the 22nd, according to industry sources, Samsung Display received approval from Apple for the production of foldable OLED modules and began initial mass production by operating part of the post-process line in its Vietnam factory. The initial quantity to be supplied this year is 3 million units.
Accordingly, Apple's foldable phone is expected to be launched as early as this fall if there are no delays in the supply of other components.
Module production approval is a procedure to confirm the final assembly status, quality, and mass production stability before supplying panels to set manufacturers.
Apple's approval standard is known to be 70% or higher. It passed this standard with a final yield exceeding 80%.
Samsung Display is the sole supplier of OLED for Apple's foldable phone. The two companies have signed a three-year exclusive contract for the supply of foldable OLED.

It has improved performance compared to existing material sets in terms of brightness, color, lifespan, and power efficiency.
