Boeing, a US aircraft manufacturer, will not supply F-15 fighter jets to Indonesia, Reuters reported on the 3rd (local time).
A Boeing vice president met with reporters at the Singapore Air Show and said, "Our partnership with Indonesia is no longer an ongoing business," stating that it will no longer manufacture F-15s for Indonesia.
Previously, Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing in 2023 to purchase 24 F-15EX fighter jets for fighter modernization, but foreign media reports said the purchase contract was ultimately canceled.
The specific reason for the cancellation of the F-15 contract was not disclosed, but overseas military expert media raised the possibility of Indonesia's 'change of heart.'
The point is that Indonesia, which has traditionally pursued a non-aligned line, is trying to diversify its weapons procurement sources by exploring various options.
In 2022, a year before signing the F-15 memorandum of understanding, Indonesia signed a contract to purchase 42 French Rafale fighter jets, and in January this year received the first batch of 3 Rafale fighter jets and deployed them to its own air force base.
Regarding this, military expert media outlets reported that Indonesia withdrew its F-15 purchase in tandem with receiving the Rafale fighter jets.
These media outlets cited reports from French local press that Indonesia showed interest in additional Rafale procurement, and reported that Indonesia may purchase more Rafale jets instead of the F-15.
Previously, Indonesia also violated trust in the joint development project of the KF-21 with South Korea, bringing about controversy.
