Analysis shows that Micron, the third-largest DRAM supplier after Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, has effectively been eliminated from the competition for sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM4). The supply of HBM4 installed in next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chips such as NVIDIA and AMD is expected to be split between domestic companies.
SemiAnalysis said "there are currently no signs that NVIDIA will order HBM4 from Micron" and predicted that SK Hynix will account for 70% and Samsung Electronics will account for 30% of NVIDIA's HBM4 supply. Vera Rubin is an AI chip that NVIDIA is developing as the next generation after Blackwell. HBM4 is being installed for the first time. Micron was originally expected to supply about 5% of HBM4, but it has been completely eliminated from the competition.
