After going through Squirt and Smooth chain wax,
I used to use homemade hot-melting wax and am currently using UFO hot-melting.
One of the common complaints among people who use liquid chain wax is
that wax buildup occurs too severely, and it's not easy to remove it...
In my case, I don't follow the manufacturer's instructions (because when I did... buildup occurred whether it was a lot or a little...)
I drip wax onto a stationary chain and let it absorb for 1-2 hours > rotate it halfway and repeat (until there are no unabsorbed areas)
and this method almost perfectly prevents grime buildup on the pulley and chainring.
Basically, Smooth has less buildup than Squirt, but Smooth's recent type can't be used as a drip application.
I solved this by transplanting the spout since the Squirt and Smooth spout sizes are the same ;;;
(In winter I use Squirt winter formula, but it's very sticky, so after winter ends, you should definitely degrease and change the wax;)
If you go towards hot-melting wax, which is the ultimate in cleanliness...
First, homemade wax is definitely superior in cleanliness compared to Molten or Secret-whatever, UFO and such.
(Commercial hot-melting wax has good performance and longevity, but as a result, it gets more contaminated. Because of undifferentiated paraffin or other emulsifiers...)
With homemade wax, at most you're just mixing paraffin with Teflon, so contamination can't really happen...
Instead, a lot of dust particles come out ㄷㄷ;;;
Wishing you all successful experiences with chain wax......
