Ingredients (1~2 servings)
- Cooked rice: 2 cups
- Dried seaweed: a little (torn into small pieces)
- Sesame oil: 1 tablespoon
- Salt: a pinch
- Sesame seeds: a pinch
- Additional ingredients (optional)
> Canned tuna (oil drained)
> Roasted anchovies
> Seasoned side dishes (e.g., braised beef, kimchi)
> Finely chopped vegetables (e.g., carrots, cucumbers, perilla leaves)
Instructions
1. Prepare the rice
Let freshly cooked rice cool slightly until it's no longer hot to the touch.
2. Season
Add sesame oil, salt, and sesame seeds to the rice and mix well.
3. Add ingredients
Mix in your desired additional ingredients (tuna, anchovies, kimchi, etc.) to the rice or prepare them to be placed in the center.
4. Make the rice balls
Lightly oil your hands with sesame oil, scoop a handful of rice, and shape it into a ball.
If you're adding additional ingredients, flatten the rice slightly, place the ingredient in the center, and then reshape into a ball.
5. Wrap with seaweed
Sprinkle torn dried seaweed evenly over the rice ball.
Tip
Make rice balls of various sizes for lunch boxes or snacks.
If you want to make them a uniform shape, try using plastic wrap to mold them.
