The PEAK 4550 EVO II was released starting yesterday
After using WAKE 6560 EVO, PEAK 4550 EVO,
I switched to WAKE 6560 EVO II (direct purchase from official website)
I really like the WAKE 6560 EVO II wheel set's high-speed riding feel, crosswind response, and weight (1250g, TR01, 22 IR, 33 ER, optimal for 28c)
I also looked at the PEAK 4550 EVO II with interest, but
Somewhat disappointingly, the PEAK 4550 EVO II didn't reduce weight that much.
From 1285g (previous generation EVO I) to 1200g (TR01V2 hub)... at this rate, there's not much difference compared to the WAKE 6560 EVO II...
Except for the rim height, there's no difference from the 6560, so it seems they couldn't reduce the rim weight much.
That's a bit disappointing.
These days, all the ultra-lightweight wheel sets that come out are in the 1000g~1100g range...
Of course, PCW doesn't need tubeless rim tape, so I take that into account,
PCW conducts impact tests at 120J (UCI minimum test is 40J?), and with steel spokes instead of carbon spokes (Alpina Hyperlight) and hook rims...
Still, I was hoping for it to be under 1100g, but it's a bit disappointing.
From EVO II onwards, they include a Tactic Racing center lock ring with the purchase, and this is really nice. It weighs about 6g.
