The U.S. House of Representatives rejected a 'War Powers Resolution' on the 5th (local time) that would have limited President Donald Trump's military strikes against Iran.
Following its failure to pass in the Senate the previous day, the congressional attempt to curb military action has effectively collapsed.
According to CNN, AP, and others, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a resolution today in full session that would have prevented military operations against Iran from being expanded without congressional approval, but it was rejected with 212 votes in favor and 219 votes against. The majority of Republican lawmakers voted against it, and some Democratic lawmakers also blocked the passage of the resolution.
The resolution stipulates that if the president continues or expands military operations against Iran, military action must be halted unless there is explicit congressional approval or an official declaration of war.

Earlier, the Senate also voted on the War Powers Resolution the previous day, but it was rejected with 47 votes in favor and 53 votes against. The vote reflected the exact split of seats: Republicans (53 seats) and Democrats including independent-leaning Democrats (47 seats).
Following the resolution's rejection, Democrats criticized it. Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland, emphasized that "the Constitution clearly stipulates that only Congress has the authority to decide matters of war."
Even if the War Powers Resolution had passed both the Senate and House, it was likely that President Trump would have exercised his veto.
