Hello.
How did you get started with stock investing?
I started investing in stocks for the first time with domestic stocks starting in 2018.
At the time, I saw an acquaintance investing and after reading a domestic book that explained the concept of value investing, I started investing.
I took notes on the book's contents and selected a few stocks considering factors like PER and margin of safety.
After that, I gained confidence by reading several investment books and increased my investment amount.
Originally, you shouldn't invest with borrowed money haha, but back then interest rates were low so I continued investing with loans for about 3 years.
While it wasn't a huge hit, I was able to continue making profits by adhering to financial statements and value investing principles.
I used the borrowed money for stock investment for 3 years and then repaid it all.
After that, I haven't been investing with borrowed money to avoid pressure.
Then starting in 2022, I invested in U.S. stocks.
Investing in U.S. stocks was a whole new world.
Domestic stocks either don't pay dividends or pay very small amounts, and only once a year, but U.S. stocks deposit quarterly which felt great.
With U.S. stocks, I was able to trade at night or early morning, which was good because it didn't interfere with my day job.
Still, I need to get proper sleep so I finish trading before midnight or 1-2 hours before market close.
The reason I started investing in U.S. stocks was when I saw a domestic stock subsidiary going public using a physical split rather than a personnel split (it's the elXX company).
Additionally, I learned that domestic companies don't prioritize shareholder interests.
Currently, with continuous promotion of commercial law amendments, I recently increased my investment proportion in domestic stocks.
I wish domestic stocks would be included in the MSCI developed countries index soon, and I hope more capital from real estate would move to stocks.
Overall, I've maintained a positive return rate so far, but though it's a small amount, I've also experienced delisting.
There are stocks where I cut losses near -40%, and I've also taken profits from 20% or more, hitting doubles (100% returns) a few times.
For stocks I sold as doubles, I felt like I sold too early.
These days, I'm re-reading value investing books that were very helpful in my investment decisions and planning stock rebalancing.
My next goal is to experience triples or more with long-term patience.
Thank you for reading this long post.
I wish you all profitable investments.
