It has been confirmed through Newstapa's investigation that Myung Tae-gyun, a key figure in the suspicions of 'Kim Keon-hee's involvement in candidate nomination', manipulated public opinion polls to make then-candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating appear higher than candidate Hong Jun-pyo's during the 20th presidential election People Power Party candidate primary.
This is the first time that Myung's 'manipulation of public opinion polls', which had previously only been suspected without clear physical evidence other than recordings of his phone conversations, has been proven with evidence.
According to Newstapa's investigation, Myung Tae-gyun used a method of creating large quantities of 'fake completed response samples' without making survey calls. Through this, he manipulated the poll results in a way favorable to candidate Yoon, such as making candidate Yoon's approval rating 3 percentage points ahead of candidate Hong Jun-pyo.
The poll manipulation by Myung Tae-gyun confirmed this time was committed in September 2021, during the peak of the People Power Party's internal primary, which exactly coincides with the period when the Yoon Seok-yeol Presidential Office acknowledged contact with Myung.
Therefore, it appears that further clarification is needed on whether the then-candidate Yoon or Yoon's campaign used Myung's manipulated polls, whether they knew of the manipulation in advance, and whether they conspired with Myung to manipulate the polls.
