Microsoft unveiled a new Surface lineup powered by the Snapdragon X2 platform at the Snapdragon Summit held in Hawaii this morning (Korean time).
The products announced this time are the Surface Pro 12-inch with a detachable keyboard in a two-in-one form factor and the Surface Laptop 13-inch with a traditional clamshell design. The company said that both models significantly improved battery efficiency and on-device AI performance through the Snapdragon X2's AI acceleration, integrated 5G connectivity, and improved thermal design.
Microsoft explained that the Surface Pro 12-inch provides all-day battery life and enhanced on-device AI features, while the Surface Laptop 13-inch emphasizes performance targeting creators and professionals. It also mentioned that performance tuning optimized for Windows was achieved through collaboration with Qualcomm. At the launch event, demonstrations were held showcasing the improved connectivity and AI capabilities of the X2 platform, along with the integration of the enhanced Surface Pen and new accessories.
Prices start at $999 for the Surface Pro 12-inch and $1,099 for the Surface Laptop 13-inch. Both models have begun taking pre-orders as of the announcement date, with official sales expected to commence in some markets next month.
