The Pentagon blames an artificial intelligence (AI) system called Maven Smart System for the US missile strike on a school in Iran that killed 123 children. The system, developed by Palantir Technologies, was used to determine attack targets and allegedly misidentified the location of the school as a military facility due to outdated intelligence data. Although intelligence analysts had warned about the change in function of the building in 2019, this warning did not reach the attack planners. President Donald Trump blamed Iran for the attack, while the UN stated that there is strong reason to believe that the United States committed a war crime. To date, the Pentagon has not released the results of an official investigation and no military personnel have been subjected to disciplinary action for this incident.
