President Prabowo Subianto ordered the Director General of Customs and Excise, Djaka Budhi Utama, to tighten border controls, especially in coastal areas. This task aims to prevent smuggling of illegal goods such as drugs and illegally imported used clothing (balpres). To carry out this task, Djaka will add equipment and personnel, focusing on the Malacca Strait. Djaka has received additional budget from the DPR Budget Agency to support the tightening of supervision efforts. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto also emphasized the importance of this task to protect the domestic textile industry from competition from illegally imported balpres.
