Analysis results of consumption and labor income by life cycle stage of Koreans showed a 'deficit→surplus→deficit' pattern, recording the largest surplus at age 45. At age 16, the largest deficit occurred due to education expenses, and after the 60s, a deficit reappeared due to an increase in medical expenses. In particular, due to the increase in consumption capacity of the elderly population and the impact of aging, the elderly deficit exceeded the youth deficit for the first time. The working-age population recorded a surplus, which appeared as a transfer to the youth and elderly populations. The total amount of lifetime deficits of Koreans in 2024 decreased compared to the previous year.
