Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman revealed allegations of fraud on 25 fortified rice brands out of a total of 27 brands examined. The rice did not meet standards because its nutrient content did not match the claims on the packaging. Fortified rice, which should be sold for around Rp13,000 per kilogram, was sold for up to Rp57,000 per kilogram, allegedly due to price difference fraud amounting to Rp44,000 per kilogram. This practice is estimated to have cost the state up to Rp89 trillion. Only 2 fortified rice brands were declared to meet the requirements, namely SMP and IAP.
