Poverty data in Indonesia according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the World Bank differ because they use different calculation methods. BPS calculates poverty based on the cost of living in Indonesia, while the World Bank uses the international poverty line to compare standards of living between countries. The BPS poverty line is adjusted to the conditions and consumption patterns of Indonesian society, while the World Bank poverty line is global and based on the standard of living of countries with similar incomes. This difference causes the World Bank's poverty figures to be higher than those of BPS. Nevertheless, both data are still relevant because they answer different questions and provide complementary perspectives on poverty eradication efforts in Indonesia.
