Japanese professional baseball's all-time hit record holder, Korean-Japanese player Jang Hoon (Japanese name Harimoto Isao), passed away on the 9th at the age of 86. He played in Japanese professional baseball from 1959 to 1981 and recorded a total of 3,850 hits, with a batting average of .319, 504 home runs, and 1,676 RBIs. After retiring, he worked as a baseball commentator for Japan's TBS and gained popularity as a solo commentator. Jang Hoon also served as a special advisor to the KBO president after the launch of Korean professional baseball, contributing greatly to the Korean sports world. In 2007, he was awarded the Order of Civil Merit, Mugunghwa Medal.
