Domestic companies' growth and profitability reached record highs in the second quarter of 2023. In particular, the semiconductor boom led to a significant increase in manufacturing sales revenue growth rate of 39.6%, and the operating profit margin also hit a record high of 24.0%. However, excluding Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, the manufacturing sales revenue growth rate was 14.0% and the operating profit margin was 7.2%, indicating that the influence of large semiconductor companies is very significant. Non-manufacturing industries also showed sales growth mainly in transportation and wholesale retail. Financial soundness indicators improved overall, but the debt ratio of small and medium-sized enterprises actually increased. The semiconductor boom is expected to continue in the third quarter, but international political uncertainty needs to be considered.
