Analysis of medical records from 13 hospitals in Korea showed that people who used the obesity drugs Wegovy and Saxenda had a higher risk of developing depression, anxiety disorders, and gastrointestinal motility disorders compared to those who did not use them. In particular, users of semaglutide, the main ingredient in Wegovy, had a 3.4 times increased risk of depression. The research team emphasized the importance of patient selection and monitoring for side effects during treatment based on these results. However, they clarified that this study cannot establish a causal relationship and that further research is needed.
