Recent overseas research results have shown that fireworks festivals can cause stress and loss of direction sense in birds, leading to mass deaths. Domestic research has also confirmed that the concentration of fine dust increased by up to 36 times immediately after the Seoul World Fireworks Festival. These results suggest that fireworks displays can exacerbate air pollution and have a negative impact on the ecosystem. Some citizens have expressed concerns about environmental problems caused by fireworks festivals and have even demanded countermeasures from the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Experts propose banning fireworks near habitats and introducing eco-friendly event alternatives such as drone shows, emphasizing the need to minimize the environmental impact of fireworks festivals.
