President Prabowo Subianto aims to close 700 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by the end of 2026 as part of efforts to streamline and improve the efficiency of the structure of state companies. The closure of 290 SOEs previously resulted in savings of Rp50 trillion in the state budget. Through this restructuring, the government projects savings of up to Rp100 trillion. Prabowo emphasized the importance of measured and comprehensive SOE restructuring to create a more efficient, healthy, and professional structure. In addition to discussing SOEs, the meeting also discussed plans to accelerate downstreaming to increase the added value of natural resources in Indonesia.
