The use of Codex, an artificial intelligence tool from OpenAI, in Indonesia has seen a significant increase throughout 2026. The number of weekly active Codex users increased 12 times compared to the beginning of the year and Indonesia is among the top five countries that most frequently use Codex and ChatGPT for data analytics. Interestingly, more than 50% of Codex usage is not related to programming but is used for other professional tasks such as writing reports, data analysis, and creating presentations. This pattern is also seen globally, where non-technical divisions such as legal, sales, marketing, and recruitment are becoming active Codex users. The productivity potential of Codex for non-technical jobs indicates that the adoption of AI agents can increase efficiency across various sectors.
