The Ministry of Justice will relocate from Gwacheon to Sejong City for the first time in 44 years. The relocation is expected to be promoted through an amendment to the Happy City Act, which deletes the Ministry of Justice from the list of institutions excluded from relocation to Sejong. The Supreme Prosecutors' Office and the National Police Agency also plan to relocate to Sejong after constructing separate office buildings. Concerns are being raised about functional inefficiency due to the fact that major judicial institutions such as the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court will remain in the metropolitan area. The relocation to Sejong City appears to be aimed at strengthening policy cooperation with other ministries and achieving the goal of balanced national development. However, it is expected that it will take several years for the National Police Agency to build a new office building.
