The Seoul History Compilation Committee will hold the 25th Seoul History Academic Conference on April 4th at the Hansung Baekje Museum, under the theme "Seoul in the 19th Century through Events." This academic conference will delve into events that occurred in 19th-century Seoul and their handling processes, as well as the judicial system and people's lives of the time, based on "Chujokyeolrok," a record of events from the Ministry of Justice during the late Joseon period. Experts will present on topics such as how commoners expressed grievances, the role of executioners known as "hyeong hyeong swa jang," patterns of smuggling crimes, and violent incidents involving lower-ranking officials. Interested citizens can participate for free through on-site registration.
