From November 12th, internet portals and SNS providers, such as information and communication service providers, must take measures such as immediate deletion, blocking, and search restrictions when they discover online suicide-inducing information. This is a partial revision of the 'Enforcement Decree of the Act for Suicide Prevention and Fostering a Culture of Respect for Life,' which is being implemented in accordance with the revised Suicide Prevention Act. Information and communication service providers are required to take action only on information publicly available on their own operated information and communication networks, and must submit monthly results of their actions to the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This revision is expected to block the distribution of online suicide-inducing information and contribute to the establishment of a culture of respect for life.
