Mochammad Afifuddin, Chairman of Indonesia's KPU (Election Commission), praised Banjarbaru as a model case for the peaceful conduct of the 2024 regional election re-vote. Safe and smooth re-voting was achieved thanks to active participation from local residents and support from government agencies and TNI-Polri. In Banjarbaru, the re-vote was held with a pair of candidates, Erna Lisa Halaby and Wartono, competing against blank votes. The re-vote was conducted in a total of eight regions following a Constitutional Court decision.
