A record number of 110,000 graduates applied for the September mock exam for the 2027 academic year College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) to be held next month. The increase in top-tier repeat students is attributed to factors such as the introduction of regional doctors. In addition, with the elimination of the subject choice system for Korean, mathematics, and exploration subjects from the 2028 academic year CSAT, and changes in the internal assessment evaluation method, many graduates are viewing the 2027 academic year CSAT as their last opportunity. This mock exam also saw a further intensification of the 'SaTamRun' phenomenon, where the number of applicants for social studies exploration was significantly higher than that for science exploration. This trend could raise issues of fairness regarding subject choice in the CSAT.
