Busan City made 30 recommendations to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to secure direct flights between Busan and Jakarta, resulting in Air Busan and Jin Air obtaining operating rights. However, both airlines failed to apply for slots, leaving no concrete plans for service. Following the merger of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, changes in the aviation market have led Air Busan and Jin Air to hesitate in securing new routes, citing aircraft shortages. Currently, the Jakarta route only operates from Incheon Airport, prompting complaints from Busan residents. Busan City expressed regret that the route, which was supported with tax funding, has not been realized.
