The Baejae High School baseball team's suspension was reduced to one month after a retrial by the Korea Sports & Olympic Committee's Sports Fair Play Commission. The team had been embroiled in controversy for using cheerleading slogans that mocked the May 18 Democratization Movement. As a result, they returned to the Phoenix Waiting National High School Baseball Tournament after 45 days and played against Incheon High School. Coach Kwon O-young and two players who led the inappropriate cheering were absent due to self-imposed disciplinary action. The players took on the game with a heavy atmosphere, and about 40 people, including parents and alumni, participated in cheering at the stadium.
