According to industry sources on the 11th, BOE is developing an OLED panel for a new iPad Air expected to be released in the first half of next year. Development is underway at B12 in Chongqing, China, where a sixth-generation OLED line has been established.
Apple has selected Samsung Display as the supplier for iPad Air OLED panels. Mass production is planned for the end of this year or early next year. BOE aims to secure a backup position to support Samsung Display. It has not yet reached the mass production certification stage. It appears that it will proceed with the mass production certification process after submitting samples and undergoing evaluation. Whether or not actual supply will take place is expected to be decided by the end of the year. Refurbished (repair/reconditioned) models or those for domestic consumption in China may be targeted.
Industry sources believe that BOE's mass production certification will be determined in November~December.

BOE has previously supplied OLED panels for Apple iPhones. Domestic companies such as Samsung Display and LG Display have led the way in IT OLEDs, including iPads.
The iPad Air is being developed in two sizes: 11 inches and 13 inches. The panels will use a hybrid OLED that combines a glass substrate with thin film encapsulation (TFE). A single stack method using a set of red, green, and blue (RGB) emitting layers is expected to be adopted for the light-emitting structure. Low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) is being used for the thin-film transistor (TFT), and the screen refresh rate is being developed at 60 Hertz (Hz).
The iPad Air aims to differentiate itself from Pro products by using single stack OLED and LTPS, while focusing on reducing panel costs. As Apple expands the scope of OLED application to the Air in addition to the iPad Pro, the tablet OLED market is also expected to grow.
