In the Democratic Party of Korea primary election for party leader, candidate Kim Min-seok won in the Gangwon and TK regions, surpassing candidates Jeong Cheong-rae and Song Young-gil. However, the cumulative vote share is 46.01% for Kim, 44.53% for Jeong, with a difference of 1.48 percentage points, still in a close race. Although the second week of primaries has ended, the results from Honam (15th) and Seoul/Gyeonggi (16th) regions are expected to determine the winner of the national convention. In the Supreme Council election, three pro-Lee Jae-myung candidates and two pro-Jeong Seong-il candidates were elected within the winning range. If no candidate receives a majority of votes in the overall vote, the second-choice votes of voters who ranked the lowest-ranked candidate first will be added to determine the final winner.
