A French-Argentine dual national tourist who transited through France has been infected with the Andes hantavirus variant and is currently in isolation in Spain. The patient experienced mild symptoms while staying in France but is currently asymptomatic. Hantavirus is transmitted to humans through rodents, and the Andes variant can spread from person to person. In April, a hantavirus outbreak occurred on a cruise ship, but the WHO declared the outbreak over as there were no further reports. Spanish authorities are tracking the patient's travel route and contacts.
