Yemen's Houthi rebels fired missiles at Yemeni government bases in response to Saudi Arabia's military buildup. The attack killed at least 38 government soldiers and wounded dozens more. The Houthis claimed they launched a large-scale military operation because of Saudi Arabia's preparations for an attack, saying this missile strike caused the largest casualties since the truce in 2022. The Yemeni civil war began in 2014 when the Houthi rebels seized control of the capital Sanaa and has remained in a stalemate despite intervention by a Saudi-led coalition.
