Wage inequality in Korea has been widening over the past five years, and this is due to a slowdown in wage increases for low-wage workers. In particular, the lower minimum wage increase rate since 2020 has led to a decline in the relative wage levels of low-wage workers. The increase in the proportion of non-regular workers has also acted as a factor exacerbating wage inequality. Aging and job polarization have also contributed to the widening wage gap.
