US Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook expressed concern over high inflation levels and stated her support for interest rate hikes if necessary to stabilize prices. She assessed that the risk of inflation is currently greater than employment concerns and emphasized the need to consider the potential negative impact of interest rate hikes on the economy. Governor Cook analyzed that factors such as reduced tariff impacts, mitigation of energy supply shocks due to the Iran war, and expansion of AI infrastructure could contribute to slowing inflation in the future. Neil Kashkari, President of the Minneapolis Fed and one of the "three hawks" within the Fed advocating for interest rate hikes, also argued for raising rates, stating that the current economic situation does not warrant monetary policy easing.
