Iran and Oman have negotiated for two months to secure a safe passage route for merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz and agreed on the geographical coordinates of the route. The two countries reviewed various aspects such as technology, law, security, and environment, and a joint statement summarizing key considerations and points of agreement is being coordinated. The Iranian Foreign Ministry pointed out that factors such as the US maritime blockade still make the strait unstable and emphasized that this agreement alone cannot fully guarantee the safety of passing ships. Pakistan and Qatar have been mediating between Iran and the United States, but the Iranian Foreign Ministry said it has no plans to visit these countries this weekend.
