In the Democratic Party of Korea primary election, candidate Jung Chung-rae beat candidate Kim Min-seok by 2.8 percentage points in the North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang provinces, taking first place. This result is seen as a reversal momentum for Jung, who lost to Kim in the Chungcheong region the previous day. The North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang voting results were conducted only for party members during the regional tour primary election, and the delegate and national vote results will be announced at the full party convention on August 17th. The party leader election is held by a preferential voting system, and if there is no candidate with more than half of the total votes, the winner will be determined by adding up the second-place votes of the top two candidates.
