On June 3rd, the Election Day of the local elections, the Central Election Management Committee received a total of 72 reports on revisions to voter turnout from 56 city and county election management committees nationwide. The reasons for the revisions varied, including 'correction of omission' and 'change in the number of voters'. In some areas, the number of voters increased by more than 6,000 or was revised 12 hours later, suggesting that the revisions were made in a 'rough and ready' manner. The Joint Investigation Headquarters for Election Interference is reporting that election management committee officials manipulated voter turnout by entering voter numbers in a decentralized manner without following normal reporting procedures. Rep. Eun-hye Kim pointed out that the voter turnout was revised in a rough and ready manner and emphasized the need for a special investigation.
