The homeownership rate of the 2030 generation fell to a record low of 31.7%. This shows that young people are having difficulty owning their own homes due to rising real estate prices and stricter loan regulations. On the other hand, the homeownership rates for those in their 50s and 60s or older are 63.5% and 68.5%, respectively, marking the largest generational gap in homeownership rates. This gap has led to a disparity in net assets, with the average home price for the top 20% of net assets being 117 times higher than that of the bottom 20%. Experts argue that loan regulations should be eased and real estate taxes strengthened for high-priced homes and multiple homeowners in order to bridge the asset gap.
