Democratic Party of Korea candidates for party leader Kim Min-seok, Jeong Cheong-rae, and Song Young-gil began targeting supporters the day after the preliminary election results were announced. Candidate Kim met with Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae to secure support from his close supporters, while Candidate Jeong met with former Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Kim Kyung-soo to gain support from his acquaintances. Candidate Song visited Jeollabuk-do to focus on gaining support from party members in the Honam region. The pro-Chung faction demanded that Candidate Kim provide evidence for his claim of "Shincheonji involvement" and urged him to withdraw. Candidate Kim's side countered that the verification of facts should be handled by the party.
