The prosecution sought a sentence of one year in prison each for Mr. Hyun, the teachers who provided the questions, and those related to the educational materials development company, citing that they undermined public education trust and exacerbated educational inequality. Mr. Hyun argued innocence, claiming that it was a legitimate transaction cost payment and that he provided high-quality problems to students as a math instructor. The first trial verdict will be handed down on the 26th of next month.
