An open model means that the design (weights) is freely available for anyone to install and use on their own server. Its performance is close to the top US models, leading to assessments that "the gap between US-China AI is now narrowing from years to months." The actual release on the 27th is expected to shake things up again.
2️⃣ Claude 'Fable 5' Subscription Confirmed — A Tale of Two Tiers
The usage method for Anthropic's strongest model, Fable 5, has finally been confirmed after repeated extensions. However, there are mixed feelings. The higher tier plans (Max and Team Premium) include up to 50% of the weekly limit officially, while the Pro plan requires separate credit purchases. In return, you get 100 dollars worth of credits once. Amidst soaring demand and competitive pressure, it seems we're entering an era where "strongest AI = premium product."

There are reports that OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, will be releasing a screenless mobile speaker as its first device. Equipped with cameras and sensors, it slightly moves around and interacts through voice instead of a screen – a concept for an 'AI friend living at home.' The target launch is 2027, with an estimated price range of $200-$300. However, the ongoing lawsuit with Apple adds uncertainty, so for now, consider it just a rumor.
4️⃣ Open-Source AI's Paradox — Will Semiconductor Boom Continue? (Technology & Economy)
The semiconductor market is currently booming thanks to AI. Memory prices are skyrocketing, and there's a shortage of supply. However, with the emergence of 'open AIs' like Kimi-K3 that can run efficiently with fewer resources, questions arise about whether semiconductors will continue to be in such high demand. Conversely, the argument (Jevons Paradox) that "if AI becomes cheaper, more people will use it, leading to an explosion in demand" cannot be ignored. This is a crucial debate for Korea, home to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
