An apple farm in Bae-bang Village, Gil-an Myeon, Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, which suffered damage from a fire last year, is now struggling with anthracnose, a fungal disease. Anthracnose is a disease that dries up and kills trees, and there are no effective treatments. The only way to treat it is to cut out infected areas early on, but treatment becomes difficult if detection is delayed. Farmers who have to cut down apple trees due to anthracnose are experiencing not only immediate losses but also reduced income for several years. The Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Technology Center is conducting research to develop new treatments and plans to continue related research next year.
