Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon was indicted on charges of commissioning a political broker, Myung Tae-kyun, to conduct opinion polls and paying for the results on behalf of donors. The court recognized the credibility of some of Myung Tae-kyun's statements and determined that Mayor Oh had commissioned five opinion polls and paid for them through Kim Han-jung. Oh Se-hoon argued that Myung Tae-kyun's statement was false, but with the testimony of former Vice Mayor Kang Cheol-won, part of Myung Tae-kyun's statement was proven true, resulting in a fine of 10 million won. Mayor Oh's political fate will be decided in the upcoming second trial and Supreme Court appeal. According to the special prosecutor law's '6·3·3' principle, his eligibility to remain as mayor is expected to be determined by next January.
