Yunhojung Yoon, Minister of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, argued for the abolition of the prosecution's supplementary investigative powers, emphasizing that police investigations could be controlled through other means. He cited judicial control measures held by the prosecution, such as warrant application rights and indictment rights, and explained that problems could be solved by changing investigation teams or forming joint cooperative investigation units if necessary. He also revealed the status of preparations for the opening of the Major Crimes Investigation Agency (MCIA) and the Public Prosecutor's Office. The appointment process will begin at the end of next month, and procedures for accepting applications from prosecutors in the prosecution service who wish to transfer to the MCIA are also scheduled to be implemented. Construction of the computer system is also underway, and it is planned that core functions will be operational along with the launch of the MCIA.
