Next year's minimum wage has been set at 10,700 won per hour. This is a 380 won, or 3.7%, increase from this year's minimum wage of 9,200 won per hour. Workers and employers failed to reach an agreement and the decision was ultimately made through a vote, with the employer side's proposal being adopted. The Minimum Wage Commission public interest members recommended the establishment of a task force to improve the minimum wage system. It is expected to take effect from January 1 next year, and the number of workers affected is estimated at approximately 2,978,000.
