Indonesia has recently experienced an increase in fraud crimes impersonating the customs authority (Bea Cukai). In November 2024, 570 fraud reports were received, marking an 80.95% increase compared to the same period last year. The customs authority warns the public to be vigilant against such scams and recommends three prevention measures. First, suspicious information should be verified through official Bea Cukai channels (phone 1500225, email info@customs.go.id, and social media). Second, thoroughly investigate additional information such as auction details, and be aware that auctions conducted through channels other than lelang.go.id are fraudulent. Third, protect personal information carefully to prevent scammers from exploiting it.
