Google's new speaker finally works wirelessly with Google TV

The new wireless pairing feature finally arrives with the launch of Google Home speaker and an update to Google TV Streamer after years of preparation.
Google confirmed this plan back in November 2020, but the feature was never introduced to the originally intended Nest Audio speaker.
Now, almost 6 years later, the feature has finally launched with a new compact $100 Google Home speaker that can replace your TV's built-in speakers.
Google stated, "Google Home speaker now works with Google TV Streamer. You can pair up to 2 speakers with Google TV Streamer to transform your living room into a mini home theater with spatial surround sound. A pair of speakers will connect wirelessly to Google TV Streamer."

Spatial audio support
To be clear, connecting wireless speakers to Google TV devices via Bluetooth has always been possible. However, this was a poor experience combined with occasional latency due to Bluetooth bandwidth limitations, resulting in low audio quality and often mono output.
This new feature relies on Wi-Fi, which provides much greater bandwidth and range, allowing it to support immersive spatial audio including stereo or Dolby Atmos, Google explained.
To get started, you need two new Google Home speaker devices and a Google TV Streamer media player updated with the latest firmware (UTTK.260317.003), which also enables Thread 1.4.
Just go to Settings → Remote and Accessories → Google Speakers. Or you can also pair through the Google Home app.
Will more be added in the future?
While Google Home speaker is not very powerful, we hope Google will release larger versions in the future. This feature is almost similar to Apple's integration between HomePod and Apple TV 4K in both functionality and limitations, with only 2 speakers able to pair to the TV at a time.
What about Google TV devices from Sony, TCL, and other brands? Google hinted that this feature won't be limited to Google TV Streamer alone, suggesting that more is coming.
Google's footnote states, "Requires Google TV Streamer or other compatible smart device."
