Apple's iOS 27 Home AI Features Available with a 2TB iCloud+ Subscription

When the company announced new and improved Apple Intelligence at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, it mentioned that some features would require a subscription but did not provide details at the time.
However, a closer examination of the recent release notes for macOS 27 beta has shed more light on which features users will have to pay for.
Apple's macOS 27 third beta developer documentation page lists some changes applied to HomeKit, the company's smart home framework. AI support is added to HomeKit Secure Video, allowing users to store video footage from compatible camera systems in iCloud instead of relying on camera manufacturers' cloud storage.
This update allows users to search videos using natural language, combine footage from multiple cameras into a single view, and receive motion alert summaries. All of this is done either on the device itself or using Apple's private cloud computing infrastructure.
According to the beta release notes, users who want to fully utilize the new AI-powered feature set will need to subscribe to a minimum 2TB storage plan of iCloud+, which currently costs $9.99 per month. While this is a good benefit for those already using multiple cameras and this storage plan, it means that single-camera users will have to pay a monthly fee just to access the AI features.
