As bicycles have evolved, the number of gears has increased to 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13.
How many more do you think it will increase in the future?
Honestly, no one pedals while pulling over 70 on a downhill, so
the maximum gear ratio will almost certainly be smaller than 5.
The uphill gear ratio is unlikely to exceed 1:1,
so further gear ratio expansion would be meaningless.
The purpose of increasing the number of gears is probably to make them denser.
How many more will it increase in the future?
I expect it will never exceed 15 gears, but nothing is absolute...
However, drive system companies need to make and sell things,
so they will somehow introduce some changes to create a differentiating factor.
